My First Moda Quilt

I love Moda Fabrics. They have some of the best designers and prettiest fabrics. Let's face it, I just love fabric. :) So I stayed up, yet again, finishing this little quilt. There is something about staying up late sewing that I just love....that is only when my husband has to work at night.......that is only until I wake up the next morning feeling really sick from not sleeping.....

HHHMMMM.....
Sewing or Sleep?? I still haven't decided which one matters the most right now...ha ha....this morning....sleep wins. :) but I can't wait to work on some stuff for the baby....

  1. That is awesome! (Perfect for a Memorial Day weekend post too!) I am curious, does your machine have a special foot for free motion quilting? I have a basic machine, which I love, but I am not sure it can do that curly, windy stitching. Just curious. Love your blog!

My machine has a special foot for free motion quilting. It also has a little piece I put on to cover the feed dogs. Most machines come with this, but all are different. I actually just learned how to do this a while ago and discovered I had all the pieces to do it all along ;) Some machines have a way to put down the feed dogs and then have a special foot that you use. I also use machine quilting thread which is different than regular thread. Somewhere I have a good link with a tutorial on free motion quilting- I'll try to post the link for you.

  3. I just tried machine quilting for my first time on an old, cheap Singer from 20 years ago. It had a plate to cover the feed dogs, but no special foot (I heard a darning foot is what I need) and I used the regular needle I had in there and it's working fine. I just have to get the hang of moving the quilt at the right speed to get all the loopies just right.

I love your quilt! You're such an inspiration :)

  4. Sleep or Quilting? It's truly a tough choice. Lately, reading has kept me up late at night.
