3 Ingredient Vanilla Ice Cream {with or without an ice cream maker}

 It's the season for Homemade Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt! Last week we made oreo ice cream in our big old ice and rock salt style ice cream maker, peach frozen yogurt, and yesterday I made this amazing vanilla! This was by far the easiest and most delicious ice cream I think we have made! I had to share it with you! We made it again today. It is a "make-two-days-in-a-row"....recipe. So good!

 3 Ingredient Vanilla Ice Cream

 2 cups half and half- we used fat free one day to cut calories- which is a good idea and we did not notice a difference at all when we used regular half and half- which has double the calories.

1 can sweetened  condensed milk (14 oz) we used the fat free variety

1 1/2-2 tsp. REAL vanilla  I used a little more than 1 1/2 tsp. and a little less than 2 tsp.



You don't need an ice cream maker for this, but you will have to be more patient. If you have an ice cream maker- like the Cuisinart one pictured below, mix the ingredients together in a bowl, and pour the mixture into the ice cream maker. Turn it on and let it go until it is thick- about an hour or so.

If you don't have an ice cream maker, use an electric hand mixer and beat on high until soft peaks form-about 10 minutes.

NEXT- pour the ice cream into a container that you can put in the freezer. If you used an ice cream maker, put it in the freezer for an hour or two if you like hard ice cream, or less if you want it really soft. If you use the hand mixer method, put it in the freezer ( a bread pan works well to put it in) and freeze if for at least 8 hours before eating.

The ice cream should keep in the freezer for at least 2 weeks.

We LOVED this ice cream! I really love that I know exactly what is in it. I really may never buy homemade vanilla ice cream again! Delicious!

End Table Makeover {in yellow}

 This table cost me $7 dollars at Goodwill. Of course- it had potential!

 I found it back in June and finally found time to finish it!  yay!

Thanks to advice and inspiration from All Things Thrifty Home, I am happy with the end result.

 I could not find a color of yellow I liked. So I decided to experiment and use machinery spray paint from Ace in Caterpillar Yellow Gloss. It worked and it was the perfect color!So in this case- I'm glad I took the risk and experimented with this paint.  The hardware was spray painted with Krylon oil rubbed bronze in Satin.

Simple steps are: clean it; prime it- we always you Bin Zinsser spray primer. It is a little more expensive than the primer you brush on-but  it is worth it.

After that dries, we spray painted the yellow. The trick with this table (half plastic and half wood) was waiting and waiting. I used about 2 cans of spray paint maybe a little bit less- and coated to twice-but I had to wait 5 days in between for the paint to cure.

 

If you want to do the glazing- adding the black into the cracks- refer to this post. It was a huge help! I bought the Faux Glaze from Ralph Lauren (about $14 for a pint that lasts forever- as you only need a little) and then I added some to an old pint of black paint. This part was very messy. I would put it on with a rag, and then using an old toothbrush, I brushed it into the cracks and grooves. Then I wiped it off with another rag and let it dry. If I thought there was too much, I used a rag with a little water on it, and wiped the extra off. It isn't perfect but good enough- since it was my first glazing job!

I hope it doesn't look like the sun and a rainbow got together and threw up. That is not the look I was going for. Hopefully it will all come together and look nice.  I have 2 more tables and many other projects in the works. Arizona Tour De Thrift in Summary

Last weekend, I attended the Arizona Tour De Thrift which was organized by two Arizona bloggers, Jax from   Aly and Ash and Ashley from  Cute as A Fox.

We met up at Mimi's Cafe for a yummy big breakfast, and we got to know each other a little bit. There were several ladies there- I wish I would have gotten a photo with..{dang}

There were also tons of gals who don't have blogs- or just read and follow them. It was so fun to meet so many different people- who all like thrifting!

We got these amazing swag bags- full of fun stuff! Thank you to Behr paint, Krylon paint, Modge Podge, Gorilla Glue, etc. There were also door prizes!! I won a really cute washer necklace- {photo coming later and where you can purchase them- they are darling!} Then off we went to 3 Goodwill stores. Unlike where I live, these Goodwill stores offer 50% off EVERYTHING every other Saturday!

This little table cost me $2.50! We all got a $5 Goodwill card, so I did use that for this. It is that plastic wood mixed with real wood, and I know it doesn't look too pretty...but... Check out these beauties... HERE or HERE. Can't wait to fix this one up too!

And look at the pretty top- that has a piece of glass to go over the top...

I can just see this next to my black and white damask chair...

I found these great frames- which I intend to spray paint....

And this huge mirror and wood frame- I have a great idea for- it too will be spray painted...and the mirror will probably go bye bye.

And one of the last things I got, were these cute star cupcake and cake pan which I already have used :)

Overall it was a great day! This was my first experience meeting bloggers in real life, and they were all very nice and very fun! Here is a link to all the posts from the other ladies in attendance.
