Small Fall Table Quilt

Back in the archives of this blog, is a quilt top as seen below. Finally, several years later, I finished it!

 I used up a bunch of scraps to make this little quilt. I decided it works great as a table quilt. It measures about 40 by 40 inches finished.

I love creating things with pretty fabric...even if it takes me years to finally get it all finished! - Yes, this one took a while to get finished.
Now...to finish the Halloween stuff I never  finished...or the Christmas stuff I never finished from several years ago....oh well.....At least I always have something to do!

Riley Blake All Star 2 Boy's Quilt...done!

Finally! I have another finished quilt! This one only took me a year... I had it all sewn together a year ago, but never got around to finishing it- stitching and binding. Babies take a lot of time you know- and this one took a lot of mine..so his quilt had to wait. {Yep I chose my babies and my kids and my family over maintaining a blog... or finishing a quilt..}

 For this quilt I used the Road Trip Tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew.  I used an all over swirly machine quilting stitch. It had been a while since I had made a quilt- so it isn't perfect. What I love about these quilts, is that the more you wash it, the softer it gets, and the less your mistakes matter.

 Originally I planned to decorate the nursery using these fabrics. But that nursery decorating thing has not really happened. Plus...I have a new idea now...and who knows- by the time I get it done- the boys might not need a nursery anymore. ha ha.

I added a few different fabrics- scraps that I had that matched- but most of the fabrics are from Riley Blake All Star 2 by My Mind's Eye.  I don't know if you can get this fabric anymore- since I started this quilt last year- but you might find it in some shops on etsy. The quilt is about 60 by 45 inches.
And here it is hung up in the room-- for now.

Riley Blake Penny Lane Baby Quilt {for a cause}

 This Saturday, there is a 5K and auction to help this family. I knew Wendy's mother very well, and had met Wendy several times. She had children the same ages as mine. This really hit close to home for me, so  I wanted to help. There wasn't much I could do to help-since I live in another state and am due to have a baby anyday now, so I made a quilt and sent it off for the auction.

 I loved the Penny Lane line by Riley Blake.  Let's face it, I love Riley Blake fabrics! I might not ever have a daughter, and since Wendy also lost her daughter at the same time, I decided to make a baby girl quilt- and call it "the Maylee Quilt" (the name of her baby girl that also passed away.)
I bought a few quarter yards of the Penny Lane line, and used scraps I already had. I used this tutorial. I loved this tute, and it was really easy. I have another quilt using it, in the works for my 4th boy-also using Riley Blake Fabrics.

Riley Blake is actually having a quilting contest right now to win an awesome cruiser...

Don't know if I feel confident in my "quiltling abilities" to enter...but  I want that beach cruiser even if I don't live anywhere near the beach. It looks awesome!

Better get busy finishing my 101 sewing, organizing, and cleaning projects...only a few more days until our little bundle arrives! Praying and Hoping it will all go well...

Another BOY Quilt: Riley Blake Wheels

Finally...another boy quilt is finished! This quilt measures about 51 inches by 60 inches.

I used the fabric line from Riley Blake called Wheels. It is adorable, and when it came out, I knew I had to have it!

I stitched this one straight across in a wave pattern, so it went rather quickly.

I am still working on my "machine quilting" and "hand stitched binding" skills.....☺ It is a continual  process.

I really like the blues, oranges, greens, and browns together. These fabrics inspired me for a color scheme for the nursery. I am using another line of Riley Blake Fabrics for it though- love their designs!

I'm sure this quilt will get a lot of use, just like the other boys quilts....being that boy #4 will be here soon!

Machine quilting is a process- as in a learning process. I just finished another boy's quilt, and it took me about..um...a year at least. ☺ I bought the fabric, cut the quilt out, pieced it, and then did not like it at all! I had used too many busy fabrics. Then last Christmas, I was about to pay someone to machine quilt it for me--and I changed my mind. I decided it would have to wait and I would do it myself...eventually.

SO....now that it is almost Christmas again.... I finally finished it! yay!!!

And once it was finished, it turned out a lot better than I thought it would. So that was nice. :)  And because it was so busy and colorful on the front, I had to tone it down on the back. Here is the back (below) :

The quilt is about 60" by 54" or something like that- I guess I need to measure it. I used the off-set square method- like the Mr. Roboto quilt. I am so so glad it is finished! I want to work on something new!

And since it is September 11th today, I hope we can all remember that day- the people that sacrificed their lives, the many that lost loved ones. It truly was a day when the world stopped turning.I was teaching a class full of second graders that day. I will always remember that time.  God Bless America.

Mr. Roboto quilt-finally finished!

My Mr. Roboto quilt is finally finished! I bought this quilt stuff a year ago, had plans to get it done before the baby was born, and he is almost 10 months old. oops. It is always something right?

(We are sick over here this weekend-and the baby just threw up a few hours ago-mostly on me...so it has been one of those weeks. :)) But the quilt that took me a year to finish is done- so at least I have that to be happy about -hee hee. And I'm "improving" in my quilting skills so that is good. This one has no puckers on the back at all- oh how I hate when I get a pucker in my quilts ;) thank you to my nice husband who helped me use my spray adhesive to get this really smooth-that is how I got it pucker-free. :)

And I haven't washed this yet-so I can't wait to wash is- so it will get all soft and get that broken-in look.

The fabric for this quilt is from David Walker/FreeSpirit and I think it is out of print. I think the collection is called Mr.Roboto or something like that. I have enough left over to make another quilt-probably one with 5 inch squares-unless someone wants to buy my scraps- since it will probably take me more than a year to get to it, and the fabric is out of print.

Want to know how to make squares like these? They are called wonky squares or "off-set" squares. Amy has a great tutorial here.

She is using the same quilt in her tutorial- I bought this quilt stuff at the store she works at, American Quilting. They have really cute quilts and fabrics- **sigh**  .... wish I lived closer.  Of course then I would just have more projects to do and less money.

Does he look  sick to you? Yeah what a good fake -healthy baby.  Silly guy.  Tonight he got really really pale and I knew something was wrong,  and then just like that- throw-up all over the place. In fact, it will probably be a long night over here-....
Just had to share my quilt that took like year to finally finish....only about 300 more of those type of projects left. :)
