Storytime: The Turkey with the Terrible Temper

This is a fun story that has been around for years. Most likely your child may have heard it at pre-school or in early elementary school. Perhaps you even heard this story as a child. It is a fun one that can teach the little turkeys something and is fun to read. Here is a copy of the words. I always like a good "flannel board" story or whatever you would like to call it- a story that is not from a traditional book- it is always a good change of pace. If you want to make a flannel board type story- - here are a few instructions:

*You will need a copy of this white turkey or any turkey w/ six feathers- in the seven different colors mentioned in the story which are- red, blue, purple, green, yellow, white- plus one in brown.

*You will also need a feather ( I just used cardstock of each color and tape) to attach to the brown turkey.)
*There are a few other characters mentioned that you can draw or find pictures for.

*A fun variation would be to cut the pieces out of cardstock or felt or anything and have the kids listen to the story and find the corresponding turkey, character, or piece.

Have fun!

Thanks for reminding me of this story. It was my favorite thanksgiving time story to do with my 2nd graders way back when :)

Cute! I found a similar story on Dr. Jean's homepage - Timmy Turkey (scroll down): http://drjean.org/html/monthly_act/act_2010/11_Nov_css/pg07.html She also has the Albuquerque Turkey song. Thanks for sharing!
