Baby O Photo Shoot

Probably my first real attempt at photographing a newborn that was not my own. (This was several weeks ago.) I have lots to learn still...and REALLY need a new computer monitor- so I can see all my "flaws"! My monitor is really ancient-and not so good w/ detail and color ;) This baby was so adorable! I love this family- they are friends of ours and were kind enough to let me learn some "skills" ...through practice taking photos of them and their precious newborn baby boy and daughter. There is nothing so precious to me as seeing a newborn baby.....I think I can handle having another one soon :)

Sharla the pictures are awesome. I am really impressed! Have you taken a class? Did you shoot at their house or yours?

Kimberly, I shoot at their house. I have never taken a class but I plan to do that soon :) I have read a few books here and there and I look at other's photos all the time. I won a photography contest back in 2006 w/ a photo that I took w/ my point and shoot camera- so even back then I really wanted to get more into it-but just don't have the time or $.... I still don't have a professional camera yet, (a prosumer/semi-professional camera is what I have) but I really enjoy taking photos of babies and kids ...and someday I'll get my "dream" camera ;) thanks for your nice words!

I'm impressed Sharla! They look great!

You can buy equipment to calibrate your monitor for around 100 dollars...and any monitor will work with the calibration. In fact, you should calibrate all monitors to get the best idea of what's going on.

What camera do you have?

Lara, My husband got me a Sony Cybershot H10- a prosumer/semi-professional camera for Christmas. You can add lenses, filters, and play w/ apeture, etc. But I want a DSLR...of course- just need some moola ;) Hoping to get one this year:) Before this camera I just had a point and shoot pocket camera.

You did an amazing job! You're so talented! I can't wait to have a new born too. You forget how tiny they really are.
