Turkey Art with Stickers

Here is a fun idea for an art project at home. If you want to try this, please copy and print the blank turkey below for your use at home.
We decided to decorate our turkey's feathers using stickers. I have a huge collection of stickers from years and years of teaching. If you don't have stickers on hand, I recommend picking up some at the dollar store, or I recently got a collection of over 1000 small Christmas stickers at Target in the dollar section- for one dollar. Check around, stickers are everywhere. For this project, you will want to use small ones. The colored dots you get at office supply stores will also work.

My turkey is on the left, and my three-year-olds is on the right. We put the stickers in groups according to the color. This is a fun activity for sorting and learning colors.

When our feathers were covered in stickers, we colored our turkeys. Because I used all different types of stickers on mine, it sort of evolved into an I-Spy turkey. I think my three year old could look at it for hours and playing I-Spy was a fun thing to do!
You can cover your turkey in anything you like- try beans, gems, glitter, etc. If you have older kids, they can really get creative with this. A story that lends itself well to this, (posted below) is A Plump and Perky Turkey by Teresa Bateman. Have fun!

I am very impressed that your 3 year old was able to get all the same colors inside the lines...I will have to post what ours turn out to be...we will be doing ours next week sometime. Thanks for an easy and cute (and educational, gotta slip that in there :) idea! Happy Thanksgiving.

Kellie- I had the help him with some of the coloring- no way he could do it that well all by himself- although he really impressed me the other day with is cutting things out.
